Nardostachys Jatamansi Oil The volatile oil obtained by steam distillation of the dried roots of the plant Nardostachys jatamansi (D. Don) DC (fam. Valerianaceae). Used in perfumery and for flavouring tobacco. Used in diluted form in vapour baths and for therapeutic body massage.
It produces a wonderful sweet, spicy & woody aroma. It carries anti-inflammatory properties but is most of all know to fragrance a formulation.
Strict harvesting to ensure it is not over-exploited has led to large price increases in recent years.
